Amelia Jajko
"I want to speak with light, colour, and buttery oils, of the things that inspire me. Finding a home on Yawuru/Djugun Country, within the community, the land, and its diversity. I aim to make paintings that explore and communicate the relationships between these things, that move beyond into deeper and more profound understandings."
Amelia is quickly gaining momentum in her practice and artistic recognition. Her observational approach is a language that has grown from an intuitive response, seeking to relate a sense of light and spontaneity.
Growing up in the South West of Western Australia Amelia now lives and works in Broome whilst retaining strong roots in the South.
Since taking up residence in Broome, after travelling and exploring Australia, her award-winning works have become a symbol of her commitment to the community and Country she now feels a profound connection to.
